Creating a Welcoming Entry for the Holidays
We love decorating our front entrance for the changing holiday seasons. We are personally working on transitioning our home into a winter wonderland and one of the first places we start is our front door. The entrance to your home sets the mood for what’s inside. It’s often the first impression of your home, and allowing you to personalize it to your design style preference can make it a lot of fun.
Are you ready to Greet the Season? With the holidays approaching we thought we’d share some easy inspo to help you get started creating your holiday entry. Whether you prefer a rustic feeling, a traditional design, or adore some metallic and sparkle you can make any vision come to life. There’s no right or wrong way to make your entrance welcoming.
Set the scene with a holiday doormat: A fresh doormat can instantly elevate your front porch any time of year. Perhaps this year you select one with a little personality to set the tone for you and all those you welcome to your home. It’s also super functional to keep the wet and debris out of your home - achieving function and style…a 2-for-1 bonus! Pro-tip: if you fall in love with a doormat that isn’t big enough for your space add a layering rug underneath.
Add a Wreath or Bow: Fresh or faux, whichever is your preference, a wreath or bow will surely add color and texture to bring those festive feels to your home. Pro-tip: When choosing a wreath or two make sure it’s not too small. Most front doors are 36 inches and can handle a wreath about 30 inches in diameter.
Fill in the side with Planters or Lanterns: You can add dimension with planters and/or statement lanterns filled with winter-friendly greenery and candles. Branches from your yard or other festive accents like ornaments can add to your design. Varying heights can add additional volume to your planters or baskets and it’s an easy way to fill out the space and design. Pro-tip: the wider the entry the taller you should decorate to create balance.
We hope some of these ideas will inspire you to deck your doors & bring you joy this holiday season!
As always, we wish you and yours the very best!
