Creating Your Dream Home Starts with Your Kitchen
Have you ever thought…
There is so much I'd like to do to our home but I don't know where to start?
From our perspective, starting with the kitchen is a no-brainer. It's the heart of the home! We spend much of our time at home, nourishing our bodies, enjoying precious time with family and creating amazing traditions and memories with our friends. But, the scope and cost of a total kitchen remodel can be intimidating, so here are a few refresh ideas that provide exceptional bang for the buck.
REFRESH YOUR CABINETS
A recent client avoided replacing their worn-out kitchen cabinets due to the high cost until we suggested having a preferred partner simply repaint them. Voila, for less than a third of the cost, they achieved an entirely fresh and bright kitchen. We often recommend white, but there are many great colors to choose - we often see grays and blues, and even green is trending at the moment.
REPLACE YOUR COUNTERTOPS
What else could you do? This is what we did in our own home! Our original kitchen was super functional, but over the years we realized that the dark countertops contributed to the winter blues. So we decided to simply swap out our dark granite countertops for a lower maintenance, bright and relatively low-cost quartz. We also added oversized pulls to provide a nice design element to the mix and new bright subway tile backsplash. All of this for less than $20,000, a fraction of what it would have cost to re-do the kitchen altogether.
A FEW INEXPENSIVE AND FUN DIY KITCHEN TRENDS
Change out your cabinet pulls! You can do it yourself and it costs very little. When picking a finish, GOLD is definitely on-trend. Another easy update is to change out your light fixtures. Look for options with natural wood, glass and/or gold accents. Or consider adding floating shelves - they serve both form and function.
As they say, the kitchen is the heart of the home. We hope these ideas provide some inspiration. May your heart and home be happy and filled with warmth.
Until next time, cheers!
