Creating Your Dream Lifestyle - Home Office Tips for Productivity, Health and Happiness
When the pandemic hit, we all scrambled to create remote work and learning spaces in our homes. As they say, the show must go on! Like most of you, we flexed our creative muscles and set up makeshift offices in every space imaginable, including one with a banquet table from the garage and another with our ping pong table converted to a desk for our youngest son. While our set-up was creative and kind of cool in the beginning, as time progressed the backaches, blasé environment, and blurred lines between work and home had us craving an escape. With essentially nowhere to go (thanks to Covid) we decided to re-visit our arrangements and create a more permanent and optimal office environment. If you haven’t gotten around to doing so, or perhaps have a permanent set-up that could use a refresh, here are a few of the things that worked well for us that we hope can help you create the most positive and productive home office possible:
Ergonomics Matter A Lot
Many of us find comfort in taking the occasional call on the couch or sitting in a plush chair at our desks, but these things can wreak long-term havoc on your body. We recommend a convertible stand-up desk, chair with proper back support, and a large monitor rather than squinting at your laptop screen.
Environment
With work from home here to stay, we probably spend more time in our home offices than any other room in the house. So why not take your best room with the most natural light and a view and make it your home office. Be sure to mix in various plants and inspirational pictures and décor, however, don’t overdo it…too much “stuff” equates to unnecessary clutter, anxiety, and stress!
Ready, Set, Break
With the lines between home and work more blurred than ever, it’s important to take breaks often and get disciplined about separation. Don’t be shy about your “office hours” and convert your newfound time for more self-care. The better you get at this, the better you’ll be at both work and play.
We hope these tips inspire you to make your home office great and if you need any tips and tricks on where to find all of the great stuff you’ll need, you know where to find us!
Happy Holidays from our family to yours, cheers!
